Pottery Care
Craft
Our makers spends intimate time with each individual piece. Every item is either hand thrown and turned on the potter's wheel or hand built from slabs of clay, with hand dipped glaze application. The nature of our goods allows for slight variances among sets being sold, glaze colors, shapes, and sizes. Not one piece is exactly like the next. This characteristic is looked upon with delight from our artists, being able to give each customer a very special creation just for them.
Care
All Jars of Dust pieces are designed to be used and enjoyed every day. Every piece is microwave, dishwasher, and food safe. Some pieces can also be used for baking; simply place your pottery in a cold oven and allow it to preheat with the oven. To help your pottery last, make sure it is completely dry before microwaving and avoid sudden, extreme temperature changes, such as moving a piece directly from the refrigerator into the microwave. This is called thermal shock, and it can cause pottery to crack or break.
We recommend you do not cut any food on your pottery with sharp knives, as the surface of stoneware is stronger than the metal of your cutlery and you may begin to see cutlery marks appear on the surface. If this does occur, luckily there are ways to reverse it. Our favorite product we use in this situation is “Barkeeper’s Friend” and can be found on Amazon.
With a little care, your Jars of Dust wares are made to be enjoyed for years to come.
